Pride Arena

What is it?
Pride Arena is a new form of Arena that is design to be more competitive. It utilize a new Pride Point system as its main source of reward output and “currency”.
The Arena
The Arena it self will still be like that of other Arenas, in which you join up in a team of 6 players (could also be 4 or 8 per team, but I think 6 is a better number) from the Pride Arena Outpost. Once enter (after the entrance fee, see blow), you will randomly be assigned to face different player opponent teams in different arena and games. After the win (or loose), instead of the rewarding Balthazar Faction or Fame, Pride Points are calculated and given.

Note: This is not to suggest replace of all arenas to this type, but adding of a new arena/outpost.
Pride Points
Pride Point is the key to this feature. This will be a dynamic number, which means it increase or decrease according to your performance. It also vary upon your Pride Ranks.
Cost of Entry
There is a cost of entry upon entering an arena game in the Pride Arena. The cost will be X amount of pride points. How much it cost will depend on your current Pride Ranks. This is not “pay” in team, but dependent to each player. (as player with different Pride Points can team together)

The cost is there to gage you performance, as well as to discourage leavers. If you and your team do well, you would gain more back from this entrance cost, but if you or your team do poorly (loose and not enough kill), this will produce negative decrease on your Pride.
Earning Pride Points
You earn Pride Points much like the Balthazar Factions or Fame, from kill of enemy and winning the game. How much you earn will also depend on whats your current Pride Rank. Flawless Victory, Blitz Victory, Cumulative Victory, Conditional Victory, Objective Victory, and other bonus can also increase the amount pride point earn.
Pride Ranks
Pride Ranks are ranks that are dependent of your current Pride Points. Thus it means it could not only goes up, but down (de-ranking you) as well. This also effect how much Pride Points you need to enter a Arena game, and how much you earn. You can also wear your Rank like a title.

Pride Points: amount of cummative Pride Points to retain this rank.
Ranks: Name of Rank
Entry/Death: How much it cost to enter into a Pride Arena, and how much deduction it take off upon your unique death in the arena.
Kill Earning: How much Pride Point you earn per team unique kills.
Victory Earning: How much you earn with each winning game.



* The Humble Victor are given only to example how it might like in a higher ranks
** All number are give for exemplary purpose, and can easily be change or adjusted to better fit the balance.
*** The Bonus, like consecutive victory, or bliz victor, etc, are not shown in this example.

The suffix of the Rank changes as it go higher (while the prefix recycle back). It could go like so.

Novice > Challenger > Gladiator > Victor > Champion …

As can see, the first few Ranks are relative easy to get (where you have less trouble with loosing points), but in the higher ranks, you face more possibility of loosing pride points if you don’t do well, thus while you do earn more points, it guess progressively harder and harder to advance in Ranks.

As you gain Higher in Ranks, more reward options (what you can exchange for your Pride Points) open up as well. (also possibility of Advance Arenas, or entrance to a 8-men Pride Arenas, /Pride emotes, etc)
Use of Pride Points:
Beside use to earn Pride Ranks, the Pride Points can also be use to exchange for other PvP rewards, such as skill points, convert to Faction Points, And other purpose. There are many “lures” that could be added to make people want such rewards…
High Score Board:
There are also a High Score Board that track the top 100 Pride Ranking Players, that shows who has the most pride point on that server, adding honor to their good deeds.
Future PvP Improvements:
While such arena could be added to the current games, it is concepted with several PvP game improvements in mind, such as better LFG menu/system, automatic group joiner, ready button, team strategy chat window, more PvP reward and unlocks, more type of PvP arenas, etc, which could better enhance the play experience of such Arena.

Summary:
I guess it’s a bit too detail. But the basic goal is to create a more competitive Arena type for people to play (optional), that not only allow you to earn, but also possibility to loose, Pride points. (much like the Guild Rankings).

I am not too much of a PvP player... so not sure about the Fame...
But can the Fame you earn go down?

It sounds more like Balthazar Faction (the way it is rewarded and how you get it), except that you have to pay to play, and there aren't ranks for Balth faction.

This sounds like a good idea. An arena that shows consistency. Fame you can just farm. Win 2 matchs in a row, or win 1 then lose 3 then win one then lose 3 then win 1... You still get 3 Fame, though we all know the former is more skilled.
Here, you can't just keep on losing though. If you have 100 PPs, then enter 5 times in a row with no kill, you will lose a lot of points.

However, please don't make it -5 at entry. Make it -5 as soon as the 5 sec counter ends, so you don't get -5 if you enter, then immediately get DCed.

His idea is pretty different from HA, its like guild rating, the more you win the higher it gets, the more you lose the lower or something like that. I dont think the idea would fly that good, you would need score resets or something

I have to say I like the aspect of it going down, and it reminds me of more of a personal guild system. Maybe resetting this every season would be something to do aswell, just a thought. I don't really like the whole idea though, it needs some work to feel like it'd fit into guild wars, but I believe it might.

Yes, it only remind me to be like the Guild ranks at much later (thus for the last sentence in the OP)

Its a progressive step system, design to give more rewarding competive experience. The first few ranks will be relative easy to get, where as long as you can win a few game or kill one or two, you would get positive. But at later ranks, it test more of you skill, where it challenge you that unless you win or score a good kill, you points and rank would start go lower. This make the higher ranks mean lot more.

There are addtional rewards that only high Pride Ranker could get, like possible armor/pet/weapon skin unlocks, emots, title, etc... There are lots differnt flavors of carrot that could be offered.

Could do a seasonal reset if needed.

further suggestions on how to make it better is always welcome.
